What we do

MUNA is a Lisbon-based film festival distribution agency created in 2024 by Marta Batista, with the aim of helping filmmakers navigate the complex world of film festivals. We believe that the filmmaker’s job is to tell stories that resonate, and we want to help them travel the globe and find their audiences.
The film festival world is highly competitive and sometimes unapproachable to many independent producers, who often find themselves spending too many resources on festivals that don’t suit their films or are a scam. At MUNA, our goal is to take that responsibility out of the filmmaker’s hands, offering valuable guidance on how to best position a film and show it to the right audiences. Through a limited line-up, we ensure that each film receives the care and attention it deserves in order to maximize its circulation potential. We value closeness and transparency at all steps, with services that are easy to understand and constant communication with filmmakers and producers.
  • We provide in-depth research and a tailored festival strategy that aligns with each film’s specific strengths and audience potential.

  • We leverage direct contacts with festival programmers worldwide to best represent each film, as well as promote it at key industry events and markets.

  • We handle unlimited festival submissions, utilizing fee waivers and discounts to keep the process cost-effective.

  • We act as the intermediary between filmmakers and festivals, managing all follow-ups regarding selections and acting as the point of contact at every step.

  • We coordinate all material deliveries needed for exhibition and manage the production logistics required for festival attendance.

  • We provide support in the marketing and promotion of the film to maximize its visibility during the festival circuit.

  • We negotiate screening fees on the filmmaker’s behalf and guarantee that 100% of any monetary prizes awarded go directly to the rights holders, with no hidden commissions.

  • We provide regular, detailed reports on all submissions made and the results obtained so rights holders are always up to date.
